Cellfood
"Poor
absorption among Americans - especially those under stress, those eating
poorly, and senior citizens - has become an enormous problem. When the
human body cannot absorb nutrients properly, and when the food
themselves are of questionable nutritional value, the body is severely
compromised as a self-healing organism." -Todd Ovokaitys, M. D

This product has been discontinued Vitamin C Complex

Humans are one of the few creatures that do not produce their own
vitamin C and must obtain it entirely from their diet. In addition,
more Vitamin C is needed when the body is under stress. Vitamin C
stimulates the adrenal glands to manufacture cortisone, which is
involved combating stress. Vitamin C also plays a key role in the
formation of collagen, found in bones, teeth, skin, tendons,
arteries, joints, and the eye. This promotes the healing of wounds,
fractures and hemorrhages.
Gematria's Vitamin C Complex contains a special blend of
ingredients that are rich in vitamin C and support vitamin C
absorption in the body. The bioavailability of Vitamin C Complex is
further enhanced by Gematria's patented laser enhancement technology
known as "photo-acoustic resonance".
The following list briefly discusses some of the health conditions
that may be supported by vitamin C supplementation:
· Aging Research on aging has focused on free radicals
and other agents that cause oxidative damage to the body and gradual
failure of the immune system. Many experts now believe that these
are major factors in the aging process. Vitamin C is effective at
scavenging free radicals, preventing damaging oxidation reactions in
the body, and stimulating the immune system, thus slowing the aging
process.
· Allergies Vitamin C is a powerful natural
antihistamine. Studies have shown that people who took vitamin C
regularly had fewer allergy problems, respiratory infections, and
asthma attacks.
· Atherosclerosis Vitamin C helps to normalize
blood-fat levels. High-dose treatments have shown to be effective in
reversing moderately severe atherosclerosis.
· Bronchitis Vitamin C helps the immune system to
regain balance, enabling it to fight the infection. In studies,
hospital patients with bronchitis recovered faster when they took
vitamin C supplements.
· Cancer Studies show that people who regularly eat
foods high in vitamin C have a lower than average risk of developing
various malignancies, especially cancer of the stomach and
esophagus.
· Allergies Vitamin C is a powerful natural
antihistamine. Studies have shown that people who took vitamin C
regularly had fewer allergy problems, respiratory infections, and
asthma attacks.
· Colds and flu Taking 2,000 to 4,000 milligrams of
vitamin C has been found to ease symptoms of colds and flu and to
shorten the duration of the infection.
· Glaucoma Glaucoma involves an increase in
intraocular pressure (fluid pressure in the eyeball) that develops
when the drainage mechanism for this fluid becomes impaired. Many
studies show that vitamin C lowers intraocular pressure.
· Herpes The acids in vitamin C and Acerola Berry
break down the mucus in which the herpes virus multiplies. The high
concentration of vitamin C provided by the herb interacts with the
micronutrient copper to eliminate as many as 99.994 percent of the
viruses that would be shed by infected cells. Clinical studies of
herpes treatment have found that vitamin C reduces pain and
swelling, and speeds the healing of scabs by several days.
· Infertility For treatment of infertility caused by
sperm abnormalities in men, vitamin C supplementation has been shown
to be as effective as several fertility-enhancing medications.
Take a look at the ingredients in Vitamin C Complex:
Ascorbyl Palmitate & Ascorbic Acid
Water-soluble Ascorbic Acid is contained in the watery parts
of fruits and vegetables and represents one of the least chemically
stable molecules in the vitamin family, as it is easily destroyed by
mild alkali solutions such as baking soda. Once ingested,
Ascorbic Acid is readily absorbed by the intestines and
continues its journey through the watery components tissues that
make up the human body, helping to build collagen protein while
doubling as an antioxidant along the way. Ascorbyl Palmitate
is an amphipathic molecule, meaning one end is water-soluble and the
other end is fat-soluble. It is formed from Ascorbic Acid and
Palmitic Acid, thus creating a fat-soluble form of Vitamin C. This
dual solubility allows it to be incorporated into cell membranes,
protecting them from harmful oxidants.
Acerola Berry
The acerola is a bushy tree that grows to a height of ten to fifteen
feet tall. It is native to the West Indies and southern Texas
southward to northern South America. Acerola berries are the fleshy
red fruits that are about the size of a cherry and can be eaten
fresh or used to make jams and jellies. Acerola berries have one of
the highest content of natural vitamin C per gram, about 350 times
more vitamin C than oranges, so we made it one of the main
ingredients in Vitamin C Complex. In addition, Acerola has a
carotene content comparable to that of carrots and also supplies
magnesium, potassium, vitamin A and B vitamins. As an exceptionally
rich source of vitamin C, Acerola Berry helps support against
addiction to nitroglycerin medication. For people who must take
nitroglycerin, the vitamin C in Acerola Berry also supports against
orthostatic hypotension, a condition that causes a tendency to faint
when moving from a seated position to a standing position.
Bioflavonoids: Quercetin & Rutin
Bioflavonoids were first discovered by Nobel Prize Laureate Albert
Szent-Gyorgy in the 1930's. Bioflavonoids are a class of
water-soluble plant pigments thought to enhance the absorption of
Vitamin C, and possibly to prolong the effectiveness of it as well.
Bioflavonoids and vitamin C work together to help maintain the thin
walls of the capillaries, therefore promoting circulation and
preventing bleeding or bruising. They have been linked to having an
antibacterial effect, stimulating bile production and even assisting
with fighting allergies and asthma. They are also effectively used
in the treatment of sport injuries as they are pain relieving.
Bioflavonoids may also support the body against oral herpes.
Quercitin, a cousin of Rutin, is a particularly unique bioflavonoid
that has been extensively studied by researchers around the world
because of its unique synergistic relationship with Vitamin C.
Kiwi
Kiwi fruit is another excellent source of vitamin C, as well as
vitamin E. In the world of phytonutrient research, kiwifruit has
fascinated researchers for its ability to protect DNA in the nucleus
of human cells from oxygen-related damage. Researchers are not yet
certain which compounds in kiwi give it this protective antioxidant
capacity, but they are sure that this healing property is not
limited to those nutrients most commonly associated with kiwifruit,
including its vitamin C or beta-carotene content. Since kiwi
contains a variety of flavonoids and carotenoids that have
demonstrated antioxidant activity, these phytonutrients in kiwi may
be responsible for this DNA protection. The protective properties of
kiwi have been demonstrated in a study with 6- and 7-year-old
children in northern and central Italy. The more kiwi or citrus
fruit these children consumed, the less likely they were to have
respiratory-related health problems including wheezing, shortness of
breath, or night coughing. These same antioxidant protective
properties may have been involved in providing protection for these
children.
Grapefruit You may eat oranges and other citrus fruits
and drink their juice because of their vitamin C, but they also
contain other important nutrients. Citrus fruits contain carotenoids
and fiber - notably pectin, which helps lower cholesterol. Besides
beta-carotene, pink and red grapefruit provide lycopene, another
carotenoid, which may help prevent prostate cancer. They are also
rich in polyphenols, which include a wide range of flavonoids and
related compounds, many with beneficial effects and nearly all with
tongue-twisting names. In addition, scientists have been discovering
an array of interesting and potent phytochemicals in citrus fruit.
There has been a lot of research to support the benefits of citrus
fruits. A study in the Journal of the American Medical Association
found that consuming just one extra daily serving of certain fruits
and vegetables, including citrus fruits or juices, reduces the risk
of stroke by about 20%. Earlier research had also suggested that
flavonoids such as those in citrus could lower the risk of stroke.
A Dutch study found that citrus fruit, probably because of its
supply of the B vitamin folic acid, lowers blood levels of homo-cysteine,
a substance that may increase the risk of heart disease. Citrus skin
contains D-limonene and coumarins, which leach into the juice.
D-limonene may help detoxify potentially cancer-causing compounds
while reducing the activity of proteins that trigger abnormal cell
growth, according to laboratory studies. Coumarins help reduce blood
clotting and may also have anti-cancer capacity. Certain compounds
that give citrus fruit their bitter or tart taste are also believed
to have antioxidant and anti-cancer effects.
Guava
Guava is widely grown in the tropics and is rich in tannins,
phenols, triterpenes, flavonoids, essential oils, saponins,
carotenoids, lectins, vitamins, fiber and fatty acids. Guava fruit
is higher in vitamin C than citrus and contains appreciable amounts
of vitamin A as well. Guava fruits are also a good source of pectin
- a dietary fiber. The leaves of guava are rich in flavonoids, in
particular, quercetin. Much of guava's therapeutic activity is
attributed to these flavonoids. The flavonoids have demonstrated
antibacterial activity. Quercetin is thought to contribute to the
anti-diarrhea effect of guava; it is able to relax intestinal smooth
muscle and inhibit bowel contractions. In addition, other flavonoids
and triterpenes in guava leaves show antispasmodic activity. Guava
also has antioxidant properties which is attributed to the
polyphenols found in the leaves.
Mango
Mangos are full packed with vitamins and anti-oxidants. They also
contain an enzyme with stomach soothing properties similar to papain
found in papayas, as well as a lot of tryptophan, the precursor of
the "happiness-hormone" serotonin.
Grapefruit Seed Extract
Grapefruit Seed Extract is loaded with healthy polyphenolic
compounds like quercitin and rutinoside and is helpful in alkalizing
the blood. It is commonly reported to have powerful antimicrobial
activity and is widely used both as a preservative and to fight many
types of infections. It also naturally detoxifies, enhances and
supports the immune system. This is probably because Grapefruit Seed
Extract contains high levels of vitamin C, vitamin E and
bioflavonoids.
Suggested Usage:
For optimal vitamin C supplementation, it is best to take small
quantities at intervals throughout the day, rather than a higher
quantity all at once. For general use, we suggest taking two
capsules per serving, up to three times throughout the day. For
extra immune support during cold & allergy season or times of
wound-healing, you may wish to take one capsule per serving at two
hour intervals throughout the day, up to eight capsules a day. "Body
tolerance" is the largest amount of vitamin C a person can take
without experiencing gas, loose stools, or diarrhea*. People who
feel well most often discover a body-tolerance quantity of 2,000 to
12,000 milligrams of vitamin C daily, while people who do not feel
well find their tolerance increased to 10,000 to 30,000 (or more)
milligrams daily. Usually, as health improves, the amount of vitamin
C the body can tolerate gradually decreases. You can find your body
tolerance by starting with a relatively low amount, perhaps 500 to
1,000 milligrams with each meal, and gradually increasing the dose
every day until you notice any of symptoms mentioned above. Then
decrease the amount slightly to the largest amount you can tolerate,
with continued adjustment as needed. * Please note that the
Quercitin and Guava in Vitamin C Complex may help to
naturally balance out the potential diarrheic effects of vitamin C
supplementation.
